How deep do helical piers go in Florida soil?
Depth depends on what’s underneath. In sandy coastal soils we typically reach 12–25 ft to seat on dense shell or limestone strata. In karst regions like Pasco, Hernando, and Marion counties the piers often advance 25–40 ft to clear the hazard layer entirely. Every job gets a soil probe before final design so the depth target is engineered, not guessed.
How long does a helical pier installation take?
Most residential jobs install in 2–4 working days once permits are issued. A typical 8–12 pier scope is one day to mobilize and drive piers, one day for hydraulic lift and load testing, and a final day for site cleanup and finishes. Commercial scopes are scheduled around the GC’s sequencing.
Will a helical pier installation disturb my landscaping?
Minimal disturbance. The hydraulic torque motor mounts on a small skid-steer or excavator and only needs roughly 4 ft of clearance to each pier location. Do helical piers really work in karst and sinkhole-prone soils?
Yes — and they’re often the preferred system in karst country precisely because they advance through the hazard layer to dense bearing strata below it. The engineering doesn’t try to fix the karst; it loads the structure on competent soil underneath. This is why our standard Tampa, Orlando, and Lake City designs go deeper than a generic spec would suggest.
How does the price compare to push piers or mudjacking?
Helicals usually price 10–25% above hydraulic push piers and substantially above mudjacking, but with documented load capacity per pier and a transferable lifetime warranty. The cheaper options work on certain soils; in Florida’s karst and saturated coastal profiles, push piers and mudjacking frequently re-fail and have to be redone. We quote both when both are viable.
